Gazprom Nord Stream 2 Project Update

Earlier this week, Alexey Miller, the CEO of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, and Brigitte Zypries, Germany’s minister for monetary affairs and energy, discussed the possible prospects of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.

A Gazprom statement said that the idea is to bring more Russian gas into mainland european countries.

Gazprom noted that during the first 5 months of 2017 the national company increased their gas export products to Germany by over 37 percent on the year-on-year basis.

In 2016, the company delivered Germany forty nine billion cubic meters of gas which is an increase of over 8 billion cubic yards of gas from the previous year.

The Nord Stream part 2 project aims to deliver more than fifty five billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas to the European community.

The project is a huge venture for the Russian giant and will reach the European Union from the Baltic Sea to Germany, bypassing the Ukraine.

The launch of the Gazprom Nord Stream 2 pipeline project is planned for 2018, the project is it does go through will be a major project within the industry.
